Here is what I plan to try when it warms up. I have some vinyl top adhesive (READ: Black Heavy silicone) that I plan to backfill the channel from front towards the rear of the front door. Just a few inches. Hopefully the water will go towards the back and run down the B-pillar. Will try in a day or so and post the results the next time I wash, or SE NM gets a rain storm. Yeah it'll be a while.
Jrod did you ever try this and if so how did it work. That was my idea but have not done it yet.

i keep a towel under the front seat, just in case, and if i know its gonna rain i put one wheel up on a curb to generate runoff.

It's a Jeeps way of marking it's territory; humiliating yes, but at least it does it to everyone.

nah, same exact issue with hard top and soft top (I have both)

issue is that they put a drip rail above the door on both soft top and hard top. That is to be expected. This drip rail contains the water running off the top from going straight down into the vehicle.

Problem is that the jeep has a downward facing stance, so the water runs forward in this railing when parked, and when it reaches the front of the drip rail, it pours straight down. The water pouring from this rail goes not out of the vehicle, but directly into the vehicle.

This is simply very poor design, but there is no apparent solution, as the only realistic solution would be a drip edge on the front side of the door which would be fine for water, but would make driving noisy and less efficient, as the rail would be in a position that would catch a lot of wind in forward motion.

bad design.

This is one of the many reasons why I ripped my carpet, threw it in the trash and never looked back. Someone should invent a mini sum pump (sp?) to place on top of the jeep to deal with this issue...lol.

Just bought a '08 2d rubicon w/ soft top and the first time I took top off and put it back on, it poured water right over the door handle. Seems like it got better after the top warmed up. Still soaks you getting in and out though.

I like the backfill of silicon in the channel approach for the hardtop. Any success?

hardtopp here...happens all the time...
it's a flood in heavy rain...

it adds character in my opinion...

i have a cloth in the door pocket to catch it...
you can't keep anything in that pocket...it always get mouldy...

did that silicone fix work out ???

i guess in LA it's not so tough...
but here in the emerald isle...!!!

In 15 years from now, I wonder how many JK's are going to need new front floor pans? No wonder why the aftermarket lists them for sale already. This is a piss poor design for sure.
