Default Anybody have a Bestop Hardtop?

Hey guys! I wanted to get your thought on Bestop's, 2-piece hard top for the JK Wrangler Unlimited.

Does anyone have one of these aftermarket tops? If so, do you like it? Is it worth the money? Did you have it shipped to your house; how large was THAT box? LOL!

Anyway, I should be ordering my jeep in the next 2-4 weeks, and have really been chaning my options around, including if I really want the dual tops from the factory.

Lately, I've been thinking about ordering my JK with a soft top only and getting the hard top from Bestop for the following reasons:

* Freedom tops seem to have quite a few issues.
* Orders seem to take longer if you want dual tops.
* When comparing the tops based on aftermarket prices, Bestop's may actually be a tad cheaper.
* Bestop's has an insulated gray interior (I dislike the freedom top white interior), comes in two pieces rather than three, and has nifty pockets for storage.

So....thoughts? Opinions?

Thank you!

Karla

I've been thinking about this lately as well. Anyone have any thoughts? I'm pretty sure Besttop offered a similarly designed (except smaller) 2-piece hardtop for the TJs. Anyone have any experience with those?

Also, does the Bestop hardtop come with a rear window wiper?

I know the Bestop hardtop does NOT come with a wiper. It does come with a defroster, which I believe to be more important in my opinion. The softops don't have either, so I could live without the wiper.

I think the Bestop hard top is supposed to go for about $2200. The dual top option is a little under $1600, so price probably wouldn't justify it. The other points certainly could though...

Also, are there any problems hooking up the Bestop hardtop to a vehicle that did not come with a hardtop stock? I know there was a post a while back from someone that had the dealer hook up a factory hardtop to his softtop Jeep and there was some kind of compatibility issue with the computer. This was very early on (and I've heard of others successfully doing this sense then), so I'm sure it's no longer a problem with the factory hard top, but I'm not so sure about the Bestop hardtop.

If your JK came with Sirius Satellite radio, you'll want to stick with the factory hard top I'll bet. The antenna is in the roll bar close to the passenger side of the sound bar-- it can receive a signal through the factory hard top, but not if it has insulation added to it in that spot.

Note, Bestop may have addressed this issue in their design-- I'd ask them if you're curious about their hard top.

The Freedom top is around $1600 if you purchase it with your vehicle. However, if you buy it after the fact I think it's close to $2700 for the actual top and dealer installation. That's based on other information I've read online, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Another point that is pushing me towards Bestop is the fact that their top channels water away from the door openings. From what I've read so far, if you get out of your JK in the rain the Freedom top pretty much douses you.

As for the insulation....I don't plan on getting Sirius satellite radio, so no worries there!

I am also interested in how these tops perform. Does the insulation help with road noise? How does it compare to the interior sound of the factory hard top? I like the idea of the 2 pc better than 3.

I see Qudratech has both factory and besttop available for order, which makes me wonder why I can buy a Mopar top from them, and yet it's constrained for ordered Jeeps?
