Default Anyone get stranded?

I'm starting this thread out of curiosity. I've seen hundreds of cool pics of people and their JK's in some pretty awsome places. I started wondering, what would happen if the JK had some sort of an electrical "glitch" while it was miles from town? Has any one had a problem where something happened and it just would not run or start? Because of the JK's electronics, (drive by wire, anti theft etc) this is always at the back of my mind.

Well, i wasn't exactly stranded, but when i got stuck in deep mud/puddle which was 4 feet deep, i had a BIG problem. While trying to "rock" the Jeep out, engine stalled on me, i started it right away trying to avoid water getting in the engine through exhaust. And since the starter is located at the very bottom of the engine, I shorted it out. I still started the car, but after a few more starts (after being pulled out of water) the starter stopped working.

While still being stuck for 40 minutes, waiting for my friends to go around the trail, my throw out bearing was destroyed. So if it wasn't for my friends, i don't even want to think what would happen.

I wouldn't worry much about being stranded far from home or help.
I'm in sales and travel all over Texas and South Louisiana, Traveling an avg. of 350 miles a day. If you know anything about Texas you will know that there are many roads and highways where you wont see a soul for miles and miles.

I haven't been stranded yet. I have about 55,000 miles on the little girl already. She still runs great!

Now my hubby's 08 we have a slight prob. anytime after it's been in high water it refuses to shut off. That lil puppy will run for a min or so after we take the key out.

Don't worry about being left alone on the side of the road. If it hasn't happened to me yet. I doubt it's gonna happen to anyone LOL !!!!!

Twice with my TJ, but not so far with my JK. I took my girlfriend and her dog trailriding and got the Jeep literally stuck between a rock and a hard place. Add slick afternoon mountain snow to that and it was going nowhere, so we hoofed it out 3 miles to meet a Forest Ranger. I came back a few days later with friends and tire chains and we got it out. Second time, I'd stopped on a trail to help a couple who'd burned out the clutch on their Subaru, but then my Jeep stalled out. Turned out to be a fuse from the "black box" under the hood. I hooked up to another vehicle to get turned around, then coasted a few miles down the narrow road back to the interstate, hoping I didn't meet anything big or lose momentum. Moral of the stories, yea, it can happen, go with someone and keep a calm head.

Well.............................

First stuck-With RubyDoo mostly still new with about 1500 miles on her we went wheelin in our local park and had a light come on over the water temp. gauge, water temp was normal. Rhonda got nervace and had me pull it over and turn her off. Waited 5 mins for Rhonda to read the book and found the light was for the security system. So I was like ok thats kewl lets go and get it fixed later, I went to start RubyDoo and NOTHING!!!! I kept trying sometimes i would get the lights and most time NOT. We started making phone calls to local dealer and Chrysler and got no where fast, They had us try some sort of turn the key in the door thing but to no avail.
So i thaught, Bad computer/acting up, restart it and i did just that disconnected the battery, left it for a min and reconnected and got her started and ran fine for the rest of the day, went to the dealer on monday and they replaced the bad key. Only problem with doing this was they had NO way to tell what happened.

Second stuck- heading down the highway and all the lights come on and the Jeep just dies. I get her over to the side and start looking around. I opened the hood and found the winch wiring going to the back of the jeep had melted some. So after some scearching found the place i had due the wiring got the red #2 gauge wire too close to the muffler and it shorted out to it. After about 10 mins of sitting got RubyDoo restarted and went on our way and they covered the problem under there warranty as they has to replace the wires.

Well... i waited for a wrecker for 3 hours in front of a hospital because the keys decided to dump their codes... ( i keep a spare in my wallet and it was useless)

they towed it to a dealer and had to reprogram it, and told me they have been replacing the TCM... (theft control module??) i dont know what it is... but they are all on back order.

i was told you can pull the IOD fuse or unhook the battery and get back on the road, but i had left my tools in the house the night before
i'll never do that again... (leave the tools that is...)

i was shook up about it and not really trusting it now...

the dash lit up, guages were fine... everything... just NOT starting.

sucked...
but i'll keep on driving it.
