Its the Stowaway2 Swingaway Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier. Thule makes a similar one that also swings away. I need the extra storage space and dont really want to deal with the additional cost of a trailer, so this would be good. Im just wondering how sturdy they are in the hitch receiver. I really dont feel like listening to the thing bounce around on my routine 4-10 hour road trips.

Have only seen them on smaller cars, the box was nowhere near that big though. I think it'd be a great idea for hauling more kit around. If the adapter is the same as your receiver then I think once you had a pin holding it in place, assuming that's what they are using, I can't see it making any noise or if i did, might be the contents in the box itself but not the mount.

I feel like that thing is def gonna bounce around and rattle no matter what, based on it's size and the way it's attached.

 

The problem with that is I need something I can use when I have the hard top on and the soft top. I didnt want to get a trailer because of the additional tolls (I routinely travel from NJ-Boston about once a month). The hitch carrier is big tho and I want to be able to take it off when I get to my destination. Maybe a flat hitch carrier and some type of waterproof bag

 

I have a reese hitch rack, its plastic with a metal frame and hitch. You can probably google it. It is perfect and if its gonna rain I just put a tarp on it. Best part I got it on sale for 49.bucks! Its quet too, I can't tell its even there!
