Default anyone painted / bedlined a hardtop???

i have been looking for a hardtop for a while. the cheapest one i have found so far is $1250, and it is 5 hours away, so essentially it will cost me closer to $1400 by the time i factor in going to get it. i came across a KHAKI one for $800 OBO. i am tempted to just get it and paint it. my question is, for those that have done this, is there a special painting process and how does the paint hold up??? also, has anyone line-x'd one of these??? would that make it too heavy? any input would be appreciated guys!!

Don't know about paint or linex, but Duplicolor Spray-on Bedliner is easy and inexpensive, and touch-ups are a breeze...

what's wrong with Khaki? I love it over the black. it stands out a lot more and doesn't absorb as much heat.

It's just fiberglass so should be pretty straight forward paint and go with what ever prep work that needs to be done to make it stick. I think I've heard of someone using bedliner on the inside....

I painted the inside of my hardtop black, line-xed the outside black and headlined the inside black. Paint inside scratches but the line-x guy was reluctant to line-x the inside. Headliners are great! LIne-X is even better. No more chipping (for no apparent reason). The hardtop is much "stiffer" which makes handling it a lot easier. Probably added 20# the the weight but insignificant overal. Would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Personally, I think Khaki goes with every color. It gives it a more 'elegant' look.
I bought a used hardtop that was scratched a lot. I trail so paint wasn't an option. I did the Herculiner and topcoated with the Herculiner UV coating. It holds up great and I've received quite a few compliments from people who see it in person. It was way too easy to do.
