Default Jp magazine dumps coils?

Any thoughts on the article in JP magazine where they remove their 3 inch coil lift for a 3 inch spacer in front and a 1.75 inch spacer in the rear? Plus they go back to stock control arms stating the bushings were shot on their aftermarket arms after 30000 miles. They also return to stock shocks with extensions and stock springs.

Anyway. JP states this is the ideal set up for 35s. Which even with 35s u may bend your axles and ruin your steering components. Also forget about running 37s on a JK unless you have serious axl money set aside.

Any coil people wish they just stuck with spacers and anyone with 37s wish they stopped with 35s?

BTW march 2011 JP

What aftermarket company were they using? My coils ride MUCH better than the stock ones.

I wondering as well. What bushings were in these aftermarket arms?

I can agree with the axle needing some TLC with tires over 35s.

But all that plastic in the place of coils???
That makes no sense to me.

Would like to know the CAs that were removed as well, being shot at 30k miles. Probably just needed to be rebuilt.

I believe the original 3 inch lift was from Black Diamond. Also with BD control arms. They switched to daystar spacers. JP says no aftermarket bushings can out last the stockers?

Heck no. As far as ride I would put the OME coils up against any puck lift. Or any other coil for that matter.

Yep....and I would like to see the ride quality with added bumpers, winch with the 3" spacers and stock coils. The stock coils sag like an 80 year old tits when weight is added & makes for a very unpleasant ride!

uh, yeah, just goes to show you how much JP knows

funny thing is, a lot of aftermarket lift kits come with clevite bonded rubber bushings just like factory including JKS (has them on both ends), full-traction (frame end/FK rod end on the axle), clayton and teraflex (frame end/serviceable spherical joint on the axle). perhaps if they tested out a better lift kit, they would have a different opinion on things.

Black Diamond doesn't make control arms or at least they didn't 2 yrs ago so they must have been the SuperLift CA's since they bought out Black Diamond. We ran the BD lift for 15k miles without issues but the CA are TeraFlex...still no issues! Just my based on my experience with the BD product.
