Default Attention 2012 owners!

Those of you with 2012s hold of on changing your gear ratios. Apparently the 2012s have a new trans controller that puts the jeep into a limp mode if it senses a change in the ratio. Just received an email from AEV highlighting this issue. They said a Jeep dealer cannot over ride this and they are working on adding a fix into a new procal module.

My guess would be that it will only allow you to drive at a slow speed and cut engine power. Just picture traction control on permanently killing power and speed. If it's involving the trans then probably won't allow you out of first or second gear.

Limp mode means your vehicle has detected a serious problem and has to protect the engine. Limits RPMs to under 1500 until problem is corrected.

Yep, often you can't even get rolling. It will completely incapacitate the jeep.

Yet another reason I'm glad I didn't switch to a new one!

Update:

I just received an email from AEV regarding this issue and they say they have a fix and are currently working on integrating it into their Pro-Cal module.

They expect to roll out the updated Pro-Cal Modules by end of September.
