Default Aw Hail !!!

The Oklahoma hail storms finally got to my JK and beat up the hood and AC coil. Does anyone know if the AEV hood is any thicker or if there is another hood available thats not so expensive?

So far I have only seen the AEV hood. My Jeep was safely in the garage during the last hailstorm. Luckily we took my girlfriend's Sentra when we went out to dinner that evening. She really doesn't care about her car.

That sucks. I had a close call in Colorado last summer. Fortunately before it got really bad my buddy was able to back his TJ up to the wall in his garage which gave me enough room to put the front half of my JK inside, I don't think the thin sheetmetal would withstand much pounding.

I keep a thick blanket just for hail. Throw it over your hood any where you are .

Good idea, I usually have one in there during the winter anyways.

Sorry to hear that, Jeff. I keep my JK outside and it is a worry. How large were the stones? Curtis' F-150 went through some quarter-size hail during the May 3rd tornado, and it survived with very minor trace damage. Is the JK more susceptible to damage than that (trying to gauge when I should be rushing to put that thick blanket on it!)?

It was golf ball size. I think the AC coil will be ok,just bent some fins...I hope. I chase (film) tornadoes (why my name is TORN). I will get some wire mesh for the grill soon. The hood will just wait till I can find a thicker one. Mopar show about 235 for a new one. I will put a new one on when I trade or sell this JK.
I will send a pm or call about your trip Mark.

It sounds like it sucks...I would definately go with the MOPAR hood, though I bet they charge through the nose to get it color matched. That $235 price sounds like bare metal.
