Default Axle Housing problems

Ok,
The short of it is. When i got my new JK 4 months ago i noticed the camber was off , and the dealer when i had them check it they didnt note it on the write up with every thing else i had them do 2 weeks after i got it.
I went wheeling a bit this last weekend at Little Sahara in Ok and i took a good beating off a dune the bump stops hit and my windshield got a stress crack. when i got onto the highway i notice the steering wheel off center.
I took it to the dealer for a check up and they told me that the axle housing is bent and it will cost 1700.oo to fix it. I think it was defective from the factory with the camber issues, but without documentation i dont know if i got a leg to stand on with this.
I've taken bumps before with no damage of this kind so i dont honestly think it was that bad, but the dealer claims i took a Dukes of Hazard jump with her and cant warranty my claim.. any ideas would be greatly appreciated here since thats alot of money.

Don't get me wrong but, there is no such thing as "camber" on a straight axle. If your axle had camber from the factory, it would have been bent and I find this very difficult to believe. Just out of curiosity, what made you think it was defective from the factory? What kind of evidence did see to indicate as much?

I'm really sorry to hear about your break and the expensive fix.

WOL,

here is a pic of the front the day after i brought it home. look at the front wheels kicked out at the bottom.
I didnt know if it was normal on a new jeep or not so i didnt have any huge issues with it. i had so many people ask me about it though, and i really didnt have an answer.

Actually you can adjust it. It can be accomplished with adjustable upper ball joint sleves. It just doesn't really ever NEED to be done. I have never seen one come from the factoy that was off.

Honestly, I can't tell from the pic and lens warping has a way of making any shot from the front look like that. But, having said that, does your JK have a lift and bigger tires in this pic? If so, did you get your JK with them right from the dealer?

Yeah, okay, I agree that it can be done but like you, I have never seen this from the factory. Also, if in fact his camber were truly off, you would totally see signs of it right from the get go. Certainly, the inside of his tread would be wearing faster and I would think enough so that it would be noticable right away. Docwinkle, did/do your tires have any indication that this is the case?
