Default Axle noise

I did some wheeling today and noticed allot of noise coming from my front axle. Allot of clicking and popping. I checked the caps on the U joints and all were on and tight. Thought I was going to blow the axle apart. Is this normal?

You weren't wheeling on a real flat hard surface were you?

No, not that dumb. It was an old strip mine turned into an off road park for Jeeps and atvs. Mostly hill climbs and off camber rutted trails, sand, dirt, and some sand stone.

Do you have an aftermarket diff cover? My trac bar rubs my SOLID diff cover under extreme flex and makes a popping sound.

No, I have stock diff covers, but was flexing pretty hard with the sway bar disconnected, I checked all the caps on my U joints this morning and all were on tight as far as I could tell.
