Bad day for my JK
Well, first today, I get in and see a small crack in my windshield. It started about 1/3 of the way from the driver's side and worked its way upward. Every bump and jolt of the road extended the crack. Now it's all the way across the bottom of the window. I have an appointment to get the windshield replaced tomorrow morning.
Now, as if that wasn't bad enough, here's even more. We just moved here to Montana from Texas and trust me, it's a bit different weather conditions up here than I'm used to. So we're out today looking for a home to live in, I'm pissed about my windshield, and then I slide on some ice and rear-end the realtor showing us houses. I must've slid 30' or so. The BFG MTs work great in snow, but as soon as it gets a bit slick, they slide like ice skates.
Attached are a picture of the windshield crack taken from the inside and two of my destroyed fender and dented bumper. All in all, $1015 in damage (not counting the windshield); $500 of which I have to cover per my deductible.
Whew-hoo. Great day, let me tell ya.

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry.
Did the windsheild take a rock hit? or did it just magically crack? The windsheild on my F150 split a few years ago. It was in a locked, unheated garage in storage for several months, from August up to about mid December. I have no clue how it got broke. No chips/dings/scratches, no nothing. I had the only key to the garage and it wasnt broken into. The glass repair place said it may have been from the cold? but they also had no real clue.
I woulda thought the fenders would have bent and buckled like the bumper before breaking.

This is a rite of passage anyone moving from the South to the northern climates goes through.
When we moved to Maine from Georgia years ago, we had a Chevy S-10 that lasted about 3 months up here. Learned that dirt roads freeze sooner than paved roads, at least
(also learned it sucks when you wreck a paid-off vehicle that you only had liability insurance coverage for)

1) I'll see if I can get a copy of the replacement windshield repair receipt to see how much it would have cost me.
2) My insurance is covering all of the windshield with no deductible. Thank goodness on that one. Quite easy process, actually.
3) Yes, the realtor was driving, but he was stopped at a stop sign. I was following quite a ways behind and just hit a very slick spot. I cut the wheels to the left, hence why the damage is on the passenger side front.
4) The windshield apparently took a rock or something. It has a barely detectable nick just under the driver's side wiper. I'm assuming I got it on the drive up from TX last week, but don't know for sure.
5) I'm going to talk to the repair place today to see what I can do about swapping the stock bumper for a replacement. According to the estimate, he's getting a front bumper for $155 and a front bumper cover for $285. The only issue is that I need a bumper with fog lights because my headlights are horrible. The only ones I can find with fog lights built in are outrageously expensive.
