Default battery replacement quesiton

I'm looking to replace my battery and the book I was looking through says to replace it with a 600 amp battery. I was at Costco and the guy there has an 800 amp battery that he says would work in the Jeep. I'm no battery expert, but does anyone know if it's ok to go to the 800 amp battery or should I look for a 600?

You'll be fine. Better, in fact.

Yes you are fine. The amount of amps that the jeep draws is 100% dependent upon the electrical needs of the jeep. The battery is capable of giving 800 amps, the the jeep will only use what it needs.

Go for the higher amps if it will fit. I can clearly hear a difference in how my Jeep starts since upgrading.

the Sears Diehard Platinum is the way to go. It is a gel battery and has a REPLACEMENT warranty versus pro-rated.

The Walmart battery is also very good. 3yr total replacement I think and higher cranking amps.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I'm looking at an Interstate battery from Costco that has a 42 month replacement warranty.

Not a gel battery. It's Absorbed Glass Mat; different designs altogether.

If you want to upgrade, definitley look into various AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries... as stated above. They are FAR more vibration resistant... therefore much better in offroad vehicles. They also give you more power for winches, extra lights, etc... compared to normal batteries.
