Default beginning again...maybe

Used to have a 99 TJ and now drive an 07 F150 for the past couple years. Want to come back to jeep and was wondering if anyone has gone from a four door pickup to a jku? Interested to see if you were happy with the change....

Ah yes....been trolling the site for a while getting a feel for how everyone likes the jk's so this is actually my first post. Thanks

I've had my two door jk for less than three weeks. Prior I had a 4 door tacoma. I do kinda miss the space; however I don't really need it. Also, imo the 2 door looks better with the top off than the 4 door.

Just traded an '02 Silverado Ext. Cab with 166k miles on it. Loved the truck but I've always wanted a Jeep and really couldn't justify keeping both. I was nervous about giving up my truck at first, but, so far I've got zero complaints. I ordered a 2011 JKU with 24S package and dual tops with a tow package. Took delivery of it on the 17th. I think if you have access to a good quality trailer, it's not such a leap of faith. I know if I ever need to haul something within reason, chances are the JKU will pull it in the trailer. These new Jeeps ride almost as good as a pickup nowadays anyway. The hard top keeps a quiet cabin too with relatively low wind noise. Of course if you're looking for a quiet, smooth, ride, you're definitely missing the whole point of a Jeep in my opinion. I've also heard some on here also say that the Jeep is built cheaply, but I really don't agree and think they are really built very well for what they are designed to do. At least workmanship-wise, I think they're right in line with what I saw with my old truck. I might be the exception to the rule, but I'm hooked.

I made the switch from a Dodge Ram 2500 QC 4x4 with the 6.7L Cummins to a JKU back in September. There are times I miss the Ram, especially the hp/tq, but I love the Jeep now.

If I didn't make a bunch of cash off the sale of my old truck and the price of diesel wasn't so high I would probably still have the truck and picked up a TJ.

Instead, I will probably pick up an older 24v 5.9L Cummins truck down the road to passify myself a bit more.

Good luck!

a Chevy Silverado crew cab for a 2 dr JK. Yes the truck had more power and hauling ability but it was like driving a work truck all the time. Guess which one is more fun. You only live once. I use a 4 door JK with an Alumna trailer for hauling things.

I went from a GMC 3/4ton diesel to a 2dr back in 08, on my 2nd jk now, still a 2 dr and a trailer for hauling stuff. unless you really need the space and 4dr, consider the 2dr, definitly looks more like a jeep but the mall crawlers are pretty capable too. Might even have to eat a pile of crow in a couple of years and replace my 2dr with a mall crawler.

Thanks the replies so far. Yeah I have done the two door thing in my old TJ but I think the 4 Dr is in my future. I remember the days of having four people in the TJ and not having room at all. I was thinking the same thing as far as using a trailer if I had to. I only use the pickup bed for projects around the house anyway. Not pulling horses, heavy equipment, typical truck commercial etc.
