Best of Both Worlds???
I have an '09 four door, and was one of the ones that got the lifetime powertrain. From all the posts I have read, and research I have done, it seems pretty certain that the 2012's will have the Pentastar. Now I don't know too much about comparing engines. But I trust this forum, and EVERYONE seems to think the Pentastar will be much better.
My question is this, I have 50,000 miles on my engine right now. Lets say she throws a rod, or blows up or whatever sometime next year. And lets assume ( I know bad word when dealing with DC) they will replace it under warranty. Any chance they will throw the Pentastar engine in? Or will they replace it with another 3.8? Is there a time frame that I should be looking at that they will stop replacing with 3.8 and start replacing with the Pentastar?
Any insight will be appreciated!

They will put another 3.8 in...they won't even let you pay the difference for the pentastar either. All those blown up 3.8's get sent back to Jeep and they rebuild them and that's what you get if you get an engine replaced up warranty. However first they will find the exact cause of the failure to make sure your dealer isn't pulling any funny business. If its something the dealer warrantied that shouldn't have been...Jeep will stick the dealer with the bill. Even if its 20 years down the road...you will still get another 3.8.
I was a service advisor for a couple years and people asked stuff like this all the time.
