Not looking too hard, but we don't have those kinds of deals here either. Although we never get the good deals around here that I see folks in other states get.

Haven't made the purchase yet but the dealers in multiple cities around here are running $3500-3800 off Rubicons (employee pricing) and giving $1000 customer cash. Another $1000 is available if you finance through Chrysler Financial. Thats about $5500-5800 off sticker before negotiations.

Just bought mine at Huntington Beach Jeep for $22,495 advertised on the internet, an 09 Rubicon MSRP 31,075...the only reason I bought it...well and the fact it's an amazing vehicle...I also have a 07 FJ...already love them both..well besides the swaying issue I'm having with the Rubi right now...

Honestly, I first agree to a price on the internet. I refuse to go into a dealer and talk turkey. I'll only go in to pay and play.
I have always started with Edmunds.com to see 'what others are paying' and then off to the car specific forums and hunt for what others are paying.
Then I send out a bunch of 'get a quote' things from Edmunds and a couple of other sites.
Next I wait.
Most of the time I'll get some canned response saying to call them they need more details. No way! I answer the e-mails giving all the details, tell them I'm too busy to come in or call (true) and ask them to provide a quote or I'll move on to another dealer. Sometimes it won't work and I'll send another 'get a quote' using a different e-mail address and see if I get a different employee to respond. Some are lazy, others new and others have no power to deal.
Some of the them give me a qoute and I use that quote to work between the dealers that are dealing with me via the internet.

While doing this if I am financing I get pre-approved. I will not work with a dealer to get financing because frankly that can turn a good price into a bad deal for me.

I make it clear that I am a buying, not wasting my time or theirs and if they want to sell a car they will meet or beat the best offer I have gotten. Heck, I'll even cut and paste the other offer and send it to them to prove I am not dicking around.

As far as deciding what model all that is done before I send the first e-mail.

This system has worked for me and I've bought 5 cars this way in the past 3 years and always have gotten great deals.

with employee pricing, that removes those 500 $ doc fees and drops the price by 3-5k depending on msrp

with rebates from chrysler, I think it's up to 2500 on 2008's

the deals are great, and 0 % on top of that, if your in the market it's time to look I think

I was able to get my 6 speed X with the S package or whatever for about 19K.
They pushed the numbers around because i had a trade in as well, but they gave me a ton of money compared to the other dealers i went to as well.
I was lucky enough to find a Wrangler that was used for like 4 months and it shaved off about 6k or so. That was back in September though.

I was able to get my 08' unlimited at the end of december for 16,900 plus a fee of (400) on an msrp of 24,960. 8,000 off was the best I could find at the time. Chris
