Default Best 'value' cover?

I'm looking for a cover for my new jeep. Nothing TOO pricey, but something that's easy to put on, fits well, and will have some hail protection if possible. I know, covering a jeep sounds like a major sin, but my old TJ was covered in sap all the time from a giant pine tree that I am unable to move. And as I live in a forest, no other parking is sap free. Dirt is OK, but sap is a PITA.

(not to mention if I have the top off the sap gets EVERYWHERE.)..

Any thoughts? The cheapie walmart covers look awful, rip easily and just aren't worth it. I don't suppose there's just a cover for the top and hood? :P

I also have the Bestop Trail Cover. It covers the side (door area) which is nice when you have the top and doors off and have to park in the trailhead etc. I only use the cover when I park at trailhead without the top and doors. So, that's all I need. It's made very well... snug fit. The downside is it's kind of bulky... Personally, I wish the cover was made out of more thinner/lighter material so that I can compress it into a stuff sack.

How about this one? autosportcatalog.com/index.cfm?fa=p&pid=3962&cid=130

Sounds like Bestop is the way to go. Where we are moving to does not have a garage or carport yet. I know the original question was trees but I like doors and top off hpwever I will need rain protection (till I get a freestanding carport). Are the Bestop good in the rain?

Like I said before I only use the Trail Cover when I leave the JK at trailhead etc. So, it got rained on only twice so far. One time, I parked for 2 days with the cover on at Ho Rain Forest in Olympic NP... went for backpacking. As the name indicatates, it is a rain forest (12 ft. of rain / yr.) and, it rained on and off pretty much the entire 2 days... It was very hard keeping me and my pack dry. So, I was a bit worry about the Jeep. I came back and inside of the JK was nice and dry... Well, the inside was somewhat feel damp but, it's not from leaking. More to do with built-up moisture (humid).

I don't know how it handles on rain storm but, it handled well on calm continuous rain.

Trail cover won't work for me. I need to cover the hood or that's what I'd get - it's the hood that takes the brunt of the sap. :( These are massive 100+ foot pines that cover my whole neighborhood so I'll get enough sap when driving, but it's considerably worse when parked.

I was looking at the covercraft covers, anyone tried one of those? I also want to get a trail cover for those days when the top is off and it's going to rain, etc - for that bestop will do fine.

Worse case I'll just throw a tarp over the hood each night but just looking at options.

Look on Quadratec's site. I'm pretty sure that there is a full cover there. (can't remember)

There are a lot of "generic" covers out there that will fit. Just make sure that it is made from a "breathable" fabric.

I just saw a full cover for the JK on Ebay for $105. Search for full car cover jeep jk. The seller is truckaccessoryoutlet. I've ordered from them before with no problems. (the cover is made by rugged ridge)
