I own a 2015 JK Sport. with @ 41, 000 miles put on it. In 4 1/2 years the only expenses have been the usual oil changes every 3,500 miles and the replacement of all the brake pads. Nothing else. Great reliability and fun, Good luck !

All a matter of opinion, but if we exclude preference of color, my logic goes like this. nothing pre-2012. 2012 got new engine, but still had the old seats. 2013 got the new designed seats, but still had dumb tombstone speakers on the dash. 2014 still had tombstones AND oil filter housing issues. 2015 finally lost the tombstone speakers, but still had very common issue with the oil filter housing. So, starting in 2016 is when I think the best JK came out.

Just a note that any JK that you may buy, check the Chrysler/Jeep website to see if a" air bag recall" was issued and or repaired.

Yeah, fully agree . The price for the 2015 JK I bought used was just too good to pass up. 2016 and 2017 model would have been preferable.

2007 has been garbage overall. 4 steering stabilizers- Death Wobble; popping out of gear issue at 75000- replaced transmission; burns through 4 quarts of oil between changes; Had 1/2 engine replaced (by Jeep thankfully @ 42000) having mystery check engine BS again with cylinder misfire (dealer has no idea whats up (Jeep service stinks); leaky freedom top at front latch and driver side door; Other than that it's been great! I am a glutton for punishment as I love it still

I like to avoid the first years of major changes (2007 and 2012 for the JK) in virtually any product. My '08 and it's 3.8L have been great, and so have friends with the latter model 3.6L.

But the best model year (drum roll) is: The one you've kept well maintained...

My 2012 was pretty amazing. I bought it new and traded it in after 8yrs and 107,000 miles. The starter hung up and needed to be replaced at 105,000 miles. Other than that, it was trouble free outside the standard maintenance items. I really loved that 2012. I traded it for a 2014 Willy's 2 door. At 58,000 miles it broke a valve spring and had the oil filter housing leak. $2800 repair bill.

I second what Resharp001 said... 2016 or newer.
