and she's actually asking about a bikini top. well, i suppose i may as well be contructive.

what would the difference be in a bikini top on a 4 door, over just removing all the windows from the soft top? aside from the rear sails, i mean? or do you mean a proper bikini, rather than something like a safari that will cover the rear seats as well?

A bikini top that will shade the whole jeep? Dang, that is a big girl. Seriously though, I have ridden in a JK with the bikini top and it flaps a little abouve 35 or so, and after 45 or so it is a little noisier, but not more than any other bikini top I have heard in other Jeeps.

i'm just wondering what the huge difference is between taking out the rear panels and rear window, but leaving the top up, and a full-length bikini, aside from the corner-sails?

and if your top is too loud, you need 1) more aggressive tires and 2) a louder radio.

Me too. Latch the front clamps, cinch strap the top bow in the rear down to any convenient point (like the spare) to keep the top taught, tie up the sails somehow (velcro/elastic straps) and "walla" a bikini top you already own.

Cost: uhh.. some cheap straps from wallyworld? like about $10.

didnt someone once sell a "kit" to do that on the older models? - Just amounted to some expensive web straps & buckles?

LOL, that, or you need to scare the shinola out of your passengers to get them screaming louder...

If that is not true than this will be perfect!! thanks for the input...and as for the tires... I am getting bigger mud tires this weekend!!!!!! I cannot wait!!!!! now if my shrockworks rock rails would just come......... oh and I need to order the brackets to move my mirrors to properly remove the doors!!! Jeeps are sooo mcuh fun!!!!!!

I am unsure if the manual states you can or cant do it as i dont have one handy at the sec., But i know those kits exist for the older models, do a googling of "Clover Patch convert-a-top"

I have done exactly this around town, but not on the freeway, dunno how it would react to higher speeds.

I used the factory top as a bikini for 3 years on my tj,, it did damage the top some, the corner peices started pulling from the top, stitches started pulling out. I'm getting a bikini for my jk and keeping the factory top nice in the garage,,
