You were probably playing red clay or gumbo; if so it will turn your tires blue. It will wear off eventaly or you can take some soap and a brush and get it off.

Believe it or not, it's probably blue-green algae. Algae lives dormant in some arid soils. Your tires may get even more blue temporarily after you wash the jeep because the water will awaken the algae for a few hours, like a rainfall...

Mine get that way when I am offroading in the Southern Utah area. The red soil seems to interact someway, but agree with everyone else, just wash with soap and scrub and they are black again.

Here in south Louisiana my tires get blue after playing in the mud. Give it some time and a wash, it will come out. No worries.

Mud on last trip was actually red, so, maybe, for whatever the reason, that's what made them blue... so far the blue is kinda gone, so no big deal

thank you all!

I know it sounds kooky but there really are all sorts of bluegreen algae and cyanobacterium in soil...

I used to get this all the time on my dirt bike and sand rail. Bring them back from the desert and wash them. The tires had a blue tint to them after they dried. The water activates the algae to reproduce.
