Brake Question
I have a 07 2 door Rubicon withh 8500 miles. When I am moving very slowly and lightly apply the brakes they groan. When I am in 4 low, it is really loud! If instead of the brake pedal I lightly pull the emergency brake – there is no noise. The dealer listened to it and said “normal”. Does your JK do this? If it is normal ok - but I would like to get your feedback before I visit the dealer again.
Thanks
Thanks
Two easy ways to fix groaning/squealing brakes caused by glazed pads:
1) Get up to 50 mph or so and hit the brakes HARD enough that the ABS kicks in. Do this three times or so.
2) Try doing the same thing in reverse (but not a 50 mph, ha!).
Most of the time, we use our brakes very lightly and this can cause the pads to "glaze". A couple cycles of hard braking will scuff the pads and eliminate the groans and squeaks.
