Default brake release delay when stopping on an incline

hello all i have an 09 rubicon mostly stock other than lights & bumpers . when i hit the brakes on an incline & come to a complete stop there is a delay of 2-4 seconds before i start rolling after i let off the brakes ! any ideas what is happening here ?

It's a feature out of the factory to assist with takeoff. I "believe" it can be disabled but I've gotten used to it despite my experience with prior manual vehicles.

That's the Hill Start Assist function.

There is a lot about it, including how to deactivate it, in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download one from the Jeep we site.

Yes. It's HSA. I have gotten used to mine, though here in central NJ it very rarely activates. I think I recall that the force it applies to the brakes is proportional to how hard you are pushing on the pedal. If you push the pedal lightly while stopped on an incline the motor can power through the brake application. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on that.

Yeah... I prefer it in an automatic but don't like it one bit in a standard.
