Default Break-in Period

Hi all,

I am taking delivery on my new JK today. It is my first brand new car. I was curious to know if you all knew or had any thoughts about a break-in period for the engine (i.e. max mph or rpm for the first 500 or 1k miles).

Maybe the owner's manual has a suggestion??

Thanks in advance.

I have 400 miles on mine now and I'm trying to keep it under 2500rpm until 500. Taking some trips on the highway as well as back roads aids in break in as well.

The manual tells you to nail it at times during the first 500 miles or so. It makes the engine breakin easier.

I believe in the "drive it like you stole it" theory of breakin.

It's under warrenty.

I haven't had any problems getting huge miles on my vehicles.

I should drive mine off a cliff in that case. Is driving it off a cliff covered by warranty? I have only gotten small miles on all my cars.
