Unhappy bridge > 3.73

my sister and i made a little road trip to a state park so that my dog can play on their doggy beach. tampa side/st pete side are connected by our "big bridge" the sunshine skyway bridge.

now, ive heard complaints about the gears but this is the first time ive felt it first hand. while driving 70mph and going up the grade, the jeep slowly dipped from 70-62mph while in 6th gear and was struggling towards the top.

now if this happens with stock wheel/tires, im worried about when the 35s go on. i planned on getting gears anyway, but i was going to wait a while... now i dont know.

anyways, the trip was fun, even though it was a very blah florida day.

here is a shot of the bridge:

and the little monster all salty and sandy:

Sounds about like mine, but mine has the 3.21 gears. 6th gear in mine is only good for level ground...if I wanna climb a hill in 6th, I gotta be doing about 75 or else I have to downshift to 5th. (32" tires here)

I don't get why some guys are so concerned that they can't go up hills etc in 6th gear. Why don't you just downshift? I drive 60miles each way on the highway everyday and I run in 6th gear until a passing opportunity (or big hill) comes up and then I downshift to 4th and pass as needed. Isn't that why you bought a manual tranny

Sorry for the slight threadjack, but great looking Boston you have there! I have one that will be 3 years old on Halloween and they are just great dogs. Mine rides shotgun with me all the time and he loves it.

It's meant to be an overdrive gear for crusing along.... if you had an automatic if would downshift on the same hill so either downshift or run in 4rth or 5th when your on the bridge so you don't have to !!
