Hey, Happy B-Day man!!!!
I had the Smittybilt 8000 lb. winch on my tj, and the few times I used it, it worked well... not real fast, but not real expensive either!!! (I dont have a winch on my JK yet, but may look at the smitty 10k for it..)
As far as a bumper, if you are like me, none of the bumpers I like the look of is under 500 bucks! so for a good one plan to spend between 500-1000 dollars!!!
It's all up to you're budget and what you consider to be a cool bumper...

I like the Rugged Ridge stubby. I have a friend that has one and it works well and won't break the bank. I like a stubby or mid myself. When I build a new bumper it will be a stubby.

You do know you can modify your stock bumper pretty easy and cheap. With just a little work you can even mount a winch on it! I stubbied mine for about 3 hours work and 30 dollars. It's not the bumper of my dreams but the wallet doesn't support what I want right now. It looks much better than my stock. I'm getting the hooks and fog lights bumper soon from a friend so it should look like the silver JK pic.

on the rugged ridge stubby on quadratec, i saw somethin called, winch spacers?? do those make it so that the winch sits further up? if so i think its a great idea. i like to be able to see that the winch is there...it looks cooler...

is a smittybuilt winch worse in "quality" than say..a milemarker?
is there a size difference in winches...

Warn...outta the question.
