Bumper choices?
I have been looking at a few bumpers, I'd like a little input on winch location. Pros and cons to having it mounted in between the frame rails or on top like poison Spyder. I'd like a stubby and to retain my factory fog lights. shrockworks is the my first pick so far, but it doesn't retain the fogs. I also like the genright, poison spyder, lod.
I understand radiator blockage for wind flow, but the poison Spyder stubby, dips down at the winch mounting point to provide air to the radiator.

PSC claims that having the winch on top helps keeping the winch out of water more often and allows more gussets to be installed on the inside, making it stronger.
Just got the brawler rockers and damn... They're built as well on the inside as they are on the outside.
Also, although there is a slight dip at the winch location, its at most half inch so not doing much for airflow there...

Well I run a Rugged Ridge XHD Mod bumper with NO end caps whatsoever. I got the factory fogs and I run a warn xd9000i which is one of the few winches sealed for underwater winching but the winch really don't sit low at all I only had to use it once while submerged and it works but I was fender deep in water and seriously how often do we cross fender deep water? Ul be fine mounted either way. The water thing is just something psc says to get u to buy their super expensive bumpers, which in no way am I saying are bad. Their just expensive as hell! lol

The PSC and GenRight are built and designed better which is why they're more expensive.
Mounting in between the frame rails keeps the pull low and close to the center of the mass. You increase the stress (to a certain degree) by putting it on top of the frame with the bolts pulling on the top of the bumper vice a plate that is sunk between the rails and bolted to the rails.
My GR has a winch tray that bolts to multiple places on the frame that the Rugged ridge did not.

(3 bumpers x 4 bars x 2 gussets x 2 shackle x 2 light tabs)
