Busted JK
Stories like this are why I'm hesitant to get a JK. I don't like the ESP thing. I don't need a vehicle that thinks its smarter than me. To me this thing is just another big repair bill waiting to happen. Is there any way to permanently disable it ?
I sure hope so cause that esp crap aint gonna fly on the trail
x2...i thought i'd read that it was disabled in 4lo, and had the option of being disabled in 4hi up to 40mph....
i'll have to check up on where that is, i remember reading it during an open discussion with some jeep engineers on another forum...

Is there not a ESP on-off button on the dash below the stereo on every model?????
I believe this would solve alot of problem if people would take the time to read there manuals and actually use what the auto maker gave them

ok after review of the instructions ESP should be automatically off in 4 LO but wonder if somehow the other electronic functions took over somehow and locked up wheel because of the angle on which jeep was climbing thinking it was out of control . i don't know but im not sure if i like the jeep trying to help me drive applying breaks or dropping my rpms or locking me out, or not letting me start the truck . or ringing that dang bell when i don't put my seat belt on. grrrrrrrr
Sounds a bit more like traction control than ESP. Did anyone notice a dash indicator light come on for either one at the time incident?
Mine also has a button for ESP disengagement but not for trac. cnt.
As both involve using brake function, offroad I'd like to be able to shut off each.
