Default Buying new unlimited

I'm planning on buying a new unlimited. Does it make more sense for me to buy a Rubicon or by a reg model and do modifications to it? I plan on taking the bumpers and fenders etc off my current 2 door rubicon and put it on the 2012 unlimited.

Help me decided.

Thanks all.

If you want to build it up yourself, get the Sport. IF you plan on changing front axle, don't buy a Rubicon.

Also, fenders won't change over. Bumpers are good !

Thank you for letting me know about the fenders.

I plan on putting a 3 or 4 inch lift on it and 35's.

I really like how the rubicon is geared. Is it expensive to get a sport geared like a rubicon? That's my biggest concern. My brother has a Sahara jku 6 speed and I don't like how it shifts compared to my rubicon 6 speed.

The Rubicons come with 4.10 gears, which is decently low on the 6 speed. His Sahara probably has the 3.73's which is why you feel the difference

Between the two, I would probably opt for the Rubicon for the D44 front axle and the lower ratio transfer case

It says on the jeep site, (i think) that the 2012 rubicon comes stock with 3.73 gears?

4.10 gears are an option on the 2012 JKU Rubicon. I'm taking delivery of a new one today

nice! and congrats!

I cant seem to find the 4.10 option on their website, just shows 3.73s as an option on the rubi.

Would the 3.73s be best for a DD and casual off roading?
