Default Cai noob question

Do all CAI have an opening underneath??? My Volant box has an opening underneath and that defeats my purpose of going in 2ft of water or mud unless i get a snorkel which i dont want. I just want an upgrade to my intake!

I believe if you plan on going into deep water/mud, then a cai is probably not what you need. You really need a snorkel. You might be able through the wet stuff if you go slow and keep it below the headlight.

snorkel, stock air box at the least, or stay out of the deep water..

I have one that I'm about to put on (AEM Brute Force). I'm just waiting for a pre-filter to put on it before I put it on. CAI's are great if you don't do the wet stuff a lot. Living in SoCal, I do a lot of desert runs and rock crawling. Not very much water/mud to go through. But if I do come across the wet stuff, I usually take it easy and go slow.
