can i cut out the cross member under my driver seat?

Default can i cut out the cross member under my driver seat?

ID:	599827 installing a bestop lockbox under my driver seat in a 2011 wrangler sport. there is a cross member in the way, can i cut it out and not lose the integrity of the seat?

What Ron said. It is the only front cross member. It wouldn't be there if it wasn't needed.

I would think it's there to keep the seat rigid and keep it from rocking side-to-side on rough terrain.

That's typical cheapo Chrysler engineering; If you do it you'd better weld on additional support. Maybe you could weld the lockbox onto the seat frame in a way that would let the box serve the same purpose?

I would think an example of cheapo engineering would be to not have the cross member where needed.
The 4dr front seat doesn't need it. The 2dr front seat slides differently, so the tracks are different, hence the need for the cross member.
