Changing your own oil may void warranty

I thought Chrysler issued the warranty, not the dealer.

Chrysler would have to prove that a problem was the direct result of what the owner did.

The legal eagles probably had to put that clause in because some turkey stuffed up his own oil change or used wrong oil and blew his motor then tried to sue them for a new motor under warranty. Whether your dealer adheres to it depends how you get along with your dealer I guess.

Blatant steering of owners to support the dealer network. I guess when they get in bed with FIAT they will only recommend Italian restaurants......

Indeed. I worked at a Jeep dealership and at least once a week the service manager came to our morning (sales) meetings and told us to try to convince all of our new customers that they could be voiding their warranty by servicing their own vehicles.

What a load of bs. I asked him about it and he said that maintenance revenue was down.

You can always count on you stealer!
