Default Cheap and Good Tire Carrier

Surprisingly my woman just agreed to me buying a tire carrier. It was sparked by the new 4wd magazine that came out. It advertised 15 percent off. So, looking to spend about 800.

I am leaning toward the smittybilt xrc bumper/tire carrier. Is this the best bang for the buck or is there a better product for the money? I had LOD on my TJ, but they want close to 1200, so thats a no go.

I'd go with the PJ swing out bumper/tire carrier.

$1,000 shipped from Northridge. I know that's $200 above your price point, but the PJ would be worth the bones if you can afford it.

No doubt thats a good product, but squeezing out another 200 wont happen. I originally was just going to buy the ORFAB tire carrier (no bumper). But, I really want a tire carrier/bumper combo.

Also, just noticed that if I buy the Smittybilt I also get the XRC fender flares for free.

Edit: I just called them. The carrier will cost 679 plus tax (about 80 bucks). He doesnt think I can get the fender flares included with the 15 percent off, but he wasnt sure. So, I'll call Smittybilt sometime this week and ask.

check out the write-up pages and the posts in the xtreme section. folks on here are building there own for not much and if you've got friends or know-how in welding, they're that much cheaper. the carrier I designed and started to build a few months ago would have only costed me less then 400. and that's not bad. but I've heard that the Rancho isn't bad if that's all you're looking for. good luck

How about the Rugged Ridge XHD Series?

Northridge has these for $464.99 for the bumper + $324.95 for the tire carrier = $789.94 shipped. I'm sure David can work a deal for you too . RR makes some good bumpers, and it's in your budget of $800.00.

Hey I appreciate the input guys.

I've looked at the Rancho and I'm not fond of the look of it (I guess beggars can be choosers after all).

I've been looking at the RR as well, but as of right now I'm still leaning toward the XRC.

Also, the PureJeep guys messaged me (very nice of them I thought) and told me that I can get their tire carrier shipped for 950. So, with that bit of info I may have to really consider them.

I love making these kinds of 'tough decisions'.

Buy quality over price. If you have to save a little more, do it. It will save you the hassle of buying something cheap for now and buying a new one because you don't like the way the cheap one looks or works. I made the mistake of buying the first thing that came out when I had my first JK and ended up getting rid of alot of crap and replacing it.
