Default Chrysler Group sales up 4%...Jeep up 20% !!!

"Jeep® brand sales continued to increase in May after an already strong April and posted a gain of 20 percent over the previous year. This result was driven by the continuously strong Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Patriot. Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited posted sales of 12,332 units, an all-time record for the month of May and up 114 percent compared to May 2006 with 5,754 units. The Jeep Patriot also continued its momentum and finished May with sales of 4,504 units, up 55 percent from April 2007. The vehicle is one of Chrysler Group’s recently introduced models that achieve 30 miles per gallon or better in highway driving. "

I was one of the 12,332 units sold in May.

Me too. And I must say, I'm not surprised by Chrysler's success ... they nailed it with the new Wrangler. I expect the numbers would be much stronger if they could crank up production. This is prime jeep-buying season.

Me too. I had ordered earlier, but cancelled when I found one that was pretty much what I wanted.

Why can't they put a similar type of engine that's used in the Patriot in the JK? I'm sure there's a way to get more than 16-19 MPG with a slightly better engine!

No matter what power plant we ever get in a wrangler we are not going to see 30mpg. The thing is about as areo as a guy sitting in a lawn chair. But that look is one of my favorite things about my JK!

I read somewhere that DC put the 3.7 liter in the new Patriot because they were worried they could not meet production demand for the 3.8 liter if they put it in both the Patriot and Wrangler. Judging by recent sales, I believe their worry was justified.
