Angry MPG? Engine issue?

Ok I got to ask if anyone else is getting >16mpg @ 2k rpms on their pentastar? Disclaimer: I know Jeeps aren't hybrids and I don't care if I'm only going to get 12mpg I just want to make sure it isn't an engine issue.

I just drove a whole tank at less than 60mpg (a little less than 2k rpms) all freeway and still netted less than 16mpg (yes hand calc'd not the jeep electronic guestimate). I'm starting to wonder if this is an engine issue. I have a JKUR Auto with 4.1 gears, and 5,500mi on her.

Does sound a little low for a Stock Rubicon driving at a constant 60mph.

I can get 21 or better around 55-60mph. But I do have a manual, and after market wheels & tires for what its worth.

Crown king is fun you'll enjoy it... Great trail because there are fun obstacles and if you don't want to risk anything you go around them!! Beautiful views too

Stock sport as well, with 3.21s and I have been averaging around 21-22 every tank. Only 2k miles so far but just picked it up a couple weeks ago.

I can tell you that how hard you leave the line and managing the shift points makes a big difference with jeeps. With an auto you should flutter the gas pedal around 23-2500 rpm to let the trans up shift when accelerating.

With the Rubi, your distance traveled per rpm is 17% worse than my Sport, so you should be getting 17-18 mpg using my numbers if we had similar driving pattern.

The people in that forum heard their engines produce a loud ticking noise before their engine lights came on.
i ordered her the beginning of oct and got her the end of nov. i was fully aware of the possible engine problems before i took my trip and even brought her to the dealership to have it checked out before i left. they of course found nothing, patted me on the back and sent me on my way. i assumed the tic would start at some point and am happy that it and the light didn't come on until the final leg of my trip. i guess Chrysler is redeigning headers to replace with but they said it's going to be over a month til they are ready. they said she's fine to drive but i do have some power loss
