Default Clockspring recall

So I just completed the clockspring recall where they only replace it if there are trouble codes and make sure there's no dust in there. So what happens when my clockspring dies next week? Big finger from FCA since I "completed" my recall?

How'd you go about the recall, just brought it in? I thought you had to be notified first through the mail or something. I'm looking to get mine done.

Doesn't the "official" letter say something about preventing further dust intrusion?

If you've replaced the clockspring yourself then you should be able to get Chrysler to comp you the cost of the part. I'm waiting for a letter to send in my receipt.

I got clarification. Me bringing it in this early was a waste of time. They're doing a two part recall. Part one is to check your clockspring and make sure it's not toast - easy enough to determine yourself (look at the dash). Second part will include a fix to prevent it from happening. The parts for the fix don't exist yet and we're supposed to be notified when they are. We also have a recall for the passenger airbag as part of the takata recall. Those parts don't exist yet either.

I got a letter for mine in the mail today. It's from the Chrysler and it specifically states the parts are not ready yet. lol

FWIW while my Jeep is not a part of this recall, we did get a letter about my daughter's Fiat 500 which has the clutch recall (same recall effort from FCA) and guess what? Yeah, they don't have the parts to fix that either.

I've been lucky in that I've never had to deal with recalls on any of my vehicles. But is it common to recall a part on an 8 year old vehicle? Who does that?
