Thank you. That is what I suspected.
I love the visibility out of the windshield though. It's much better than the long sloping and rounded ones I think. So far it hasn't been a problem for me.

I would think because it's strait up and down that it doesn't give any kind of deflection to flying rocks.

It's the nature of Jeep. Been like that forever. Near Vertical windshield, rocks tend to hit direct, not at an angle. The JK windshields are great compared to older models. I think I cracked my YJ's by sneezing once.

Not sure if it really worked or not, but I had a bug shield on my 09 and never had any windshield issues. I don't have a bug shield on my 2011 and I already have 5 small chips toward the bottom passenger side of my windshield. Might end up putting another bug shield on this one and find out.

My number on suggestion after 10 years with a TJ, and now new JK.. Get 100% no deductible glass coverage. When it gets hit/chipped get it replaced right away. Smile and go back to having fun with your Jeep.

Previously in this forum (of course I can't find it now) someone discussed a thin film they placed over the windshield to protect from chipping.

I'll keep looking and post if I find it.

I was at a stoplight the other morning and heard the POP, moved some gloves that were on the dash and there it was a zig zag crack about 6 inches long.. and since then a 4 foot crack across the center of the windshield has appeared .. since I have zero dollar ded on glass I am trying to make the crack as large as possible before I call a claim in
