Question Current warranties - buying a 2012 used - transfer?

Just a thought but since I now won't be buying until at least the end of the year I may be able to score a used 2012 Wrangler.

How does Jeep/Chrysler handle the warranty if you aren't the original owner? I read on their site that some part of the warranty transfers but they aren't terribly specific if it's just the 100,000 mile/5 year powertrain part or if the 3 year/36,000 mile does as well?

Currently seeing some going for several grand less than new 2012's so it may be worth considering...but not if the warranty or a major part of it goes away.

You should get the balance of the remaining factory warranty.

Always helps when you buy it from a jeep dealership as well, compared to someone else.

This is from the 2012 Warranty booklet regarding the 5 year/100,000 mile Powertrain Warranty. It doesn't say original owner, and it doesn't exclude subsequent owners.

"2.4 Powertrain Limited Warranty
A. Who Is Covered?
You are covered by the Powertrain Limited
Warranty if you are a purchaser for use of the
vehicle."

Some Chrysler extended warranties do not transfer to 2nd owners but the standard warranty will. I bought the Chrysler lifetime warranty which cannot be transferred.

I bought my 2012 with 6k on it from a Jeep dealer. You actually sign paperwork that transfers the warranty at the time of purchase and you get a copy for your records.

Sweet. Whole thing transferred so it's just like you bought it new?

Dealer an hour and change south of me had a nice bright blue 2 door for a while. 6000 miles, 3.73 gears, AC...and unfortunately a soft top and a stick. I'm pretty set on an automatic. They were asking $23,000 and it sat for a while then they dropped it below $21,000 for a sale and it disappeared that day.

yep just like new.
I have always had an auto in my daily drivers, but my JKU I just got is a 6spd and although I was skeptical at first about it, I am glad I went with it.
It is fun to drive and I like having more control.
Not for everyone though.
Good luck on your search!!

Sweet. Thanks man.

I prefer a stick honestly but it's my DD and I'm tired of driving my current stick in traffic and my left knee and ankle would probably thank me for it. If it was still the old 4 speed auto I'd get the 6 speed stick in a heartbeat but everyone loves the new 5 speed auto so I don't feel to lame about it.
