Daimler-Chrysler Butt Heads
I just got a response from my email inquiry on the status of my vehicle order. I sent the email from a week ago. They told me it was built, butcouldn't give the location. This angered me, so I wrote back and told them that it didn't seem right that I could track a $9.00 DVD from Amazon from start to finish, but they couldn't tell me where my $28,000 vehicle was at the moment. Asked for a railcar number or something I could track. This was their response:

What butt-heads! Is there some anti-terrorism law that prevents them from giving out that info? Oh well, it will all be over in a couple of weeks anyway - I hope!

Swampmonster,
You are driving yourself crazy. You have a date and you know it will be at least 2 weeks. Watching crawl across the country is not going to help you.
Do yourself a favor and find a distraction and if you can't try Tequila.
Tequila does make everything seem better.

holy crap, a round of chill pills for all, on me...
first of all, they aren't daimler-chrysler anymore, are they? anyways...
go to the "check your status codes" thread. do a search on "railcar". you'll find that you simply need to go to your dealership to get the info; you might have to tell them exactly where and what to look for - but the knowledge you need is in the thread. once you get your railcar info, you can go back home and look it up yourself on the carrier's website. of course, there won't be any railcar info available to the dealer until it's been loaded onto the train and made it past its first checkpoint or so.
also be aware that the trains don't make beeline directly to you. my train from ohio to dallas went from ohio to chicago to KC to columbia (MO) to KC to OK to STL, etc. ie, i wouldn't bother checking the train everyday again knowing what i know now.
also, i would highly suggest calling the customer service center to get status codes rather than e-mailing, it's much faster. then look up your status codes in...yep, the "check your status codes" thread.
next time, try not to blow a gasket on old news, do a search and take comfort in collective misery instead - that's what this Jeep thing is all about anyways, right?
@Cyclops62 - ha, i used to live in Aurora for a brief period of time and also west side of chi, tho i spent many formative years hanging around the arch.

Hey Superboo,
I grew up on the North side but I keep drifting west on each move. Trying to get as far away from the city as I can but, I need it for work.
Maybe some day we will make a big move as you did.

I know your pain all too well: When my JK was in transit (Jan. 07), my dealership and DCX "lost it" for about 2 weeks... After several furious calls to DCX (now Chrysler) and my stealership, I finally got a call from my salesman that my JK was located in a freight yard in Selkirk, NY, and was buried under 9 feet of snow... he went on to tell me that it would be at least 2 weeks before my Jeep was able to be transported. It came into the dealership the very next day.
I agree with a previous post, though: You're torturing yourself. Just know that it's on its way to you, and that it'll be well worth the wait. Funny how a Jeep can make a grown man act like a little kiddie on Xmas morning, eh?

You know, it's not even really about tracking it on a railcar, it's that there's not a convenient way for us to know where our vehicles are or the status at any given time. I'm content to wait without tracking each little movement. What got me angry was that I could track some stupid package I send through the mail, but not a car. It just seemed a little skewed to me. Wifey explained that they probably don't like to announce where one can find a railcar or truck full of brand new jeeps with little or no security around to prevent boosting. Made sense to me.
Now, where's that tequila?
