I've always been concerned about this happening, so I just have mine very very tight, so atleast you'd need tools to remove

Echoing a couple previous statements, I use the multi-bit screwdriver I keep in the glovebox through the hole to tighten them just past hand tight. I've never lost one that way.
My buddy does the same on his TJ. We came out of the Del Mar Fair last year, and walking up to the Jeep, there was some scuzzy looking crackhead type trying to unscrew one. He was so involved in his effort that he never heard us walk up. My friend says loudly "pretty damn tight, huh?!". The guy almost had a stroke.
He took off so fast.....he was like a meth-powered land rocket. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

Tighten them with red loctite. One of mine fell off easily while driving.

Ive had mine broken into a couple years ago. I was parked in the city( I'm from the country about an hour north) but anyways I was driving down the street and happen to look over to my passenger side window and someone tabbed 6 holes in my half door window. Looks to me like they used a screwdriver. Then I was parked on the same street the following week and walked around to the driver side. The side on the side walk and my rear panel window was open. I was ok I never keep anything important in my jeep for this reason cuz I knew it was gonna happen to me one day. So they only took about 1.50 in change from my console. They only thing I was pissed about was the fact I couldn't get my window back on cuz it was winter at the time and the salt from the road gunked up my zipper. So I had to drive an hour home with my window off in 25 degrees. There's my damn thieves story.
