Default Is a dana44 possible?

Yet another question, I appreciate the help guys.

While searching through the thousands of posts, I have come to the conclusion that some of the 2 door wranglers came from the factory with a dana 44 rear that otherwise DO NOT have the tow package. Could this be possible. In other words, no hitch or wiring harness, just the dana 44? Just need to know whether or not to call up the dealer tomorrow and have them either fax me the build sheet or have them crawl under the jeep and take a picture. This is the only option that is limiting me right now.

I am becoming so impatient, it hurts. But I am still holding strong..

I have seen several, especially ones with an auto trans and/or Trac-lok upgrade.

Depending on when it was built.
DCX dropped the dana 35 somewhat early in the production year, and every Wrangler coming off the assembly line got the Dana 44 rear

So here's my dilemma..

I have a jeep about 300 miles from me that has everything I want except the tow pkg. That is what is limiting me right now. I only want the tow pkg for the rear axle (believed this was only way to get dana44 rear).

Are all 2door wranglers now with a dana 44, or at least it is now possible to have a dana 44 w/o the tow pakage?

Sorry to be so newbie-ish, but i thought i had all this understood and then jeep decides to throw a wrench in it all and mix it up. Thanks so much guys.

It should say on the window sticker if it has a D44. Alot of dealers post the window stickers online for what they have in stock. Search on Jeep's website for that dealer and see if that jeep is listed with a window sticker.

Sometimes they just list the ratio and don't clarify if it is a 35 or 44. If it has a recent build date, it should be a D44 regardless. However, I have heard of the occassional 35 showing up.

keep in mind everyone, this is a 2008, so unfortuantely i cant look online at the inventory for the invoice since they only list the 2007s now..

I usually have all my crap together when it comes to this stuff, but this is really putting me back. I am going to call the dealership first thing in the morning and have them fax over an invoice/ build sheet, and hopefully get them to take a picture for good measure as well. If this owrks out, it looks i am a proud owner of a new jeep!

In theory, 2008 should all have D44 rears.

I hope you're right! Of course, that's "in theory."

I'll check it out tomorrow. Thank you so much everyone. I appreciate the help.
