I had the death wobble as well, and the tech at the dealership showed me where my steering stabalizer was leaking. They replaced it and no more death wobble.

The steering stablizer is just a band aid. I had this wobble 1 year ago and they said the stabalizer was leaking and replaced. 1 year later, I have the road dance without any control of the vehicle again (aka death wobble). I take jeep to dealer it spends a week goes through a full review, alignment, wheel balance, and all the tsb's done. They can't recreate but say its fine. I pick it up take it home and 4 days later...here we go again. On a curvy mountain road!!! Back I go again to dealer. 3 days later They have checked everything, flashed a couple things. The customer service rep says its done but a test driver. He heads out and calls me back that he recreated it, scared the sh**** out of him and ended up finally stopped on the opposite side of the road. Here are my suggestions. #1 The T-bar mount may have a crack that can't be seen but hit the road just right, wobble.. #2 steering damper, #3 track bar busings (must be properly torqued as well). That is everything pertinent from all the web posts I have found (once you check tire balance and alignment). It is important to understand that this dancing, wobbling, out of control vehicle is totally different from the wobble of unbalanced wheels. You loose all control of your steering wheel. Some instances you loose partial and others total brakes and fuel. The car stays ON !!. They said something about ordering parts, redoing the full front end etc. I reminded them this is #3 visit for death wobble and I believe the lemon law may come into play!!!
Thanks for listening

Why is this considered a rumor?

The wobble got me. My track bar bracket for the front axle was ripped right off. Now the whole unit has to be replaced.
