Default Deciding to gamble

After reading about how the big hold-up is partially due to the lack of Freedom tops and problems with leaking. I decided I’m going to remove the dual-top option from my order and see if that gets things moving.

What we’ll do instead is order the two-piece hardtop from Best Top after the Jeep gets here. The aftermarket is more expensive but from what I’ve read, it’s actually a better product with the added soundproofing and other features. We’re also hoping to eliminate the potential for leaks by having a full piece up front instead of the split section.

I called Tuesday, I was still in BG status and according to what I’ve read I can make changes to the order, and it won’t make me lose my place in line. I hope I’m not making a mistake with this.

Unlimited Rubicon, ordered 30 Sept.

good luck with that !!

although since it's still in BG it may not help you too much since there still "built out " thru Dec which if i understand it correctly means that you did'nt make the Dec build which would mean the soonest yours would get built is in Jan....by then they may have things figured out ??

I'm wishing there was a way I could get them to just make mine and send me the top later I'm getting a little antsy sittin here waiting...

Yeah, I'm not expecting any miracles but I'm hoping that won't be the hold up next time they start handing out allocations.

Funny you should be doing this as I too have seriously considered doing it myself. But, since everything is already built out, I think I'll just wait a little longer.

I didn't order a JK. I didn't think I could wait that long. I called every Jeep dealership in a 400 mile radius, over a two week period, until I found one that met my desires. I must have made 100 or more calls going back and forth with these dealerships not to mention many hours on the Internet searching dealership inventories. It was a headache and I had many pages of notes with names and VINs and phone #'s. I got everything but my first choice in color, which was the steel blue. I have to hand it for your guys your diligence and patience. I can't even stand to put something on layaway or mail order if it is not at least 2nd day air.

Haha, that made me laugh. Funny how obsessive and possessive we are about it.

My wife and I are always throwing out, "Honey, I'm home...where's my jeep?!"

It will be a grind and it will be a four year old's Christmas morning the day it finally gets here, but it will certainly be worth it.

Im sure glad I am waiting till next spring to buy a JK. Although I want a smoother and new ride, I am waiting till they get all the early production problems out of the way. First it was the paint, something about rust and now many leaky tops. If they dont fix it, just make a one piece top. Thats what a soft top if for anyways. Living in Oregon, it will be hardtop in winter and softtop or no top in summer. Hope they get things worked out.
