Deer Kill Mor Mod<
Well yesterday I hit and Killed a DEER! The Jeep held its Owen at 65MPH. Wasted the bumper assembly and a few more pieces but not to bad. It could have been a lot worse! Now it is time for a new BIG Bumper like ROAD ARMOR or FAB TECH
We were driving thru Colorado last night.
There were literally HUNDREDS of deer on the sides of the road. Made for slow going, but safer that way. One herd (?) had about 25 all standing there getting ready to sprint across the highway. One goes, and the others follow. That would have been a disaster.
I always hear that if you are going to hit a deer, just hit the brakes and DO NOT swerve to try to miss it.
What did you (and others) do to walk away from this encounter?

Interesting. I hit a deer in my Tacoma (1996) with a Warm Transformer grille guard at 50MPH and almost totaled it. If not for the guard it would have been a write-off. I put an ARB on it after that. Glad the Jeep held up better.
Glad to hear you are okay and the jeep is not too bad off.
Deer are bad to hit. They are just the wrong height when you hit them. Smaller things are usually plowed over and under, larger (say people) they go up and over, Deer they hit just right to be mainly impact without any of the reduction of the other two options. The two things I have always been told both start with drive through. A lot of the time the deer will be already on it's way across and get out of the way. The rest they are either too slow or just standing there. The reason I say two things is one school states keep speed hit it hard so hopefully it will bounce some causing less damage, the other states break as safely and quickly as possible reducing the speed thus the impact and damage. In my experience neither are better than the other because ususally you don't have that much time to react.
