I did a couple searches but didn't see anything current, so I apologize if this has been covered recently.

I'm going to get a JK when my lease is up on my current "fun" vehicle (Honda S2000) in June. I've been checking the dealer's inventory for a few weeks and haven't seen exactly what I'm looking for (2 door rubicon, 6 speed, soft top, half doors, tow package, tinted windows, couple of prefered colors). So I'm thinking about putting an order in for one. Any idea when I should put the order in to have it arrive at the end of June?

I've got an '03 liberty as a daily driver, so if it's a little late it's not big deal.

I had a '99 TJ and miss it, so I'm really excited about getting back into a wrangler!

I ordered mine the first week of May, and picked it up August 2. Other people have waited less than me, and some have waited longer. When I ordered it they said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get. Hope this information helps. welcome to the forum.

Picking it up this Friday

Sales guy is shocked that it came in this quick and tells me he has given up guessing when JKs are going to come in. He says sometimes it just comes down to paint! It wasn't supposed to come in until late March so now I have to quickly kick my piece of ***t Mazda3 back to the dealer and, ah, er, learn how to drive a stick!

 

From what I've read and heard...4-6 weeks seems kind of average. I've heard of longer (2+ months)...and obviously shorter (you got freakin' hooked up, Sparky!). Enjoy that mess when it comes in and welcome to the Forum as well.

ordering is anyone's guess. if you have to order, i would talk to a dealer in march. it seems as if the wait is usually longer for the rubicon........possibly due to availability of some parts.

i ordered a sahara in mid-december and my dealer said the estimated arrival date is feb. 9th.

Just ordered mine two weeks ago, and the order... ing... person... said that they weren't sure when the switch over to the '09s would happen, and that even by ordering now, it was conceivable that I would not be getting an '08 because of supply issues. They may have just been burned in the past by this and just wanted to avoid an angry customer when it doesn't show up soon.

But, I'd guess that about two months prior would be the best time to order. You might have to find a ride for a month or two though!

 

You'll wait 4 to 6 months. Just order asap so you can get it in time for the warm weather.

 

you think a dealer will order now if he tells them he's stuck in a lease until june?

i recommended march because i think it would be the earliest that a dealer would order one for june.

what if he orders today and it shows up at the end of february? then it's sitting on the lot for 3 or 4 months.........not that it's a terrible thing for the buyer, but i'm just thinking the store might want a quicker return on their investment.

i could be way off.......this is just what i'm thinking.
