OK. You might be right. I didn't bother to click on his profile. That does make a difference. Maybe I was premature in defending the guy. Yuk!

Sorry guys if you think im a troll but really that is disheartening as you can see from my many days of TJ's im just tired of breaking Stuff out on the trail and have moved onto other things.. it is tougher and tougher to find places t Legally wheel, my job is very busy and honestly I bought this Latest JeeP as my daily driver.. my 4x4 to get me through snow in the winter and also my Convertible in the Summer... it is posts like ZidJeepMan said to me that make me wonder about the community... just because I choose not to Run the heck out of my $30,000 Jeep doesnt make me a "troll" I just am choosing at this point not to Wheel hard.... my past 4 TJ's I wheeled most of them quite a bit and pretty hard at times...

as for the specific results on my small JK fire I dont have any as it was a rental unit and the rental company and Chrysler will be handling it.. I am cleared from it as I had the Insurance on it and dont care to deal with this particular Local to south florida rental company again as they originally treated me like the issue was my fault.... I only posted here to add to the discussion that there is the possibility of a manufacturer problem leading to fires.. and last thing I want is to see someone get hurt as a result of a vehicle fire..

I think most could live with the mall crawler statement alone JeepARoo, but what's up with the butch gay guy in a JK statement on your user profile page. We appreciate that you're trying to help, but you gotta admit that statement lessens your credability.

This is a serious issue that people are concerned about and on forums, people lie sometimes just to stir the pot. It's very important to determine cause and frequency of a serious event like this and for you to come in as a new guy to the forum and make remarks like in your profile, people are going to assume you are the troll.

If that's truly your lifestyle, that's fine. Just keep it to yourself and people might take you a little more serious.

If your story is true, I thank you for you information.

Now, back on topic. JackARoo stated there were wires burning. Were these wire on the battery side near the transmition dipstick. I think one of the OP's inspector said it started in that area.

Now, think about this. We know the auto trannies are overheating and a few have boiled fluid out. Could burning transmittion fluid have mested the wires and burned? Is there a plastic fuel line in this area? Could they just be seperate issues. Maybe the electrial fire alone is igniting something combustable.

The lines are plastic and I know one is a return line but I had a theory on how things might be happening. What if the oil is spilling out of either the dip stick or the breather tube and burning on the exhaust and possible flaring up enough to melt the fuel lines. I don't know I was just trying to make sense of things, and I did notice some leakage of trans fluid at the dip stick.
Good post. I will definately look at this.

How did the trans cooler install go?

Nice work, thanks for the pics. Do you have a write up thread with a parts list. Maybe, you could add a link to it so we don't whore up this thread.

** Off topic**
If someone is going to make such a big deal about a line in my profile as far as being who i am then let them be the immature one they are.. Last I knew this was a Jeep community and my posts are about Jeeps....

** End Off topic **

the rented jeep that had the fire was a 2 dr X Automatic that was built in late 2006.. so an early 07..

the wires burning under the hood were near the battery and main harness.. however it appeared to me the hottest part was under the dash panel..

Question Back to the topic...

Has this issue been resolved? I e-mailed Jeep two weeks ago inquiring about the JK's spontneously igniting but I got no reply. Has anyone else contacted Jeep directly about this?
