Default Diesel

Why does everyone want a diesel in there wrangler? With diesel being the highest price fuel at the pumps why wouldn't you want a nice small v-8 that makes around 300 hp on 87 octane? that would be the box i would check. JMO

Torque, economy, somewhat negated due to price, but would be a plus in the distance traveled per tank.

diesel prices will go way down in a year or 2. the ulsd is alot cheaper to make. which will lower prices at the pump.

Diesel has a much better MPG than gas, even though it is more expensive the MPG offset the higher price.

Exactly. Some diesel vehicles get substantialy better fuel economy than their gasoline counterpart that they make perfect financial sense. Like here, http://blog.chryslerllc.com/blog.do?id=293&p=entry a jeep compass and patriot, both with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, have acheived 55-56 mpg US over 1,124km (one tank of gas). Granted, that was driving it with fuel economy in mind, but that is still incredible compared to the 2.4-liter gas patriot and compass.

Isn't bio-diesel much easier to create then the petrol counterpart? Ethanol?

How's that been working out so far?

Diesel Pros:
Longer motor life (Cummin's easily 500k miles before thinking about rebuild)
HP & Torque for pulling and hauling.
Fuel economy is usually better
Easy Power upgrades (chip, CAI, Exhaust) - See gains of +100HP easily!

Diesel Cons:
Current Diesel prices are higher than 87Ocatane....but that changes during summer months.
Initial cost of motor
More Costly repairs should something break!
Some people complain about how noisey & stinky they are!

Diesel done up just right with Chip, exhaust, CAI....would blow the doors off a 4.7L and even 5.7L Hemi and still get better fuel economy to boot!!!
