Default Differences since '07

I have an 07 on a 4 year lease. So that means it is coming up soon.

I need to decide soon if I am going to by this one out, or buy (not lease this time) a new one.

I have had my share of problems with the 07, and the wife is adamant that she wants me to get a new one. The way I see it, I have had enough parts in it replaced that the Jeep is half new anyway.

I have had the flywheel replaced (lost a tooth)
I have been through 3 starters (2 because the dealership misdiagnosed the flywheel problem, despite my insistence that I had lost a tooth)
New Softop - softop seam was coming unstitched
Cracked the bolt hole in the front passenger side of the rear portion of the hardtop - my fault because of my home designed hardtop hoist - haven't fixed the hard top yet
Had the computer flashed several times for TSB and recall reasons
Check Engine light has come on, all day, for 2 different days in the past 3 weeks, but goes away by the next day - forgot to have dealer pull the codes when it was last in

What I am curious about is how many of problems from 07 have they fixed over the years. I know that no one can really be sure about the 2011's yet but what about the 2010's.

I did a little searching on the forum today and it seems that they have:
  • Interior doesn't scratch as easily
  • header doesn't leak as much
  • no more stall bug or computer glitches

I haven't been able to find out any info about
  • reduced volume from soundbar speakers
  • missing paint behind door hinges and underhood
  • uconnect
  • prematurely rusting door hinges

I am also assuming that the wheel bolt pattern and backspacing are unchanged, so I should be able to keep my aftermarket tires and wheels

Can anyone shed some light on the differences between 07 and 10?

If there aren't that many differences, I will probably save the money and just buy this one out. I can buy more rum that way.

Thanks,

I am wondering the same things. I also have a lease that is due right now. I am having trouble getting the financing to buy this one but the dealer says if I buy a new one he can get me 5-6% financing. My JK has been trouble free sans the reflash for the stall bug.

i don't think i can answer your question. but from what i have seen on the new 2011 jeeps, they have new and weaker axles.

I have an 09 and if this is the improved less easy to scratch interior, wow the 07 must have been made out of butter.

Default 2007 & 2010

I have an 2007 and a 2010. The 2007 has given me very few problems over all. The front header on the soft top leaked until about a month ago the dealership said they finally(after 3 years) discovered how to fix them. I do notice that the interior does scratch some but I just figured it was due to it being in the elements more. The 2010 is great but too soon to tell on problems only two weeks old.

Forgot, the sound bar is still weak.

Well I bought a 2010. Soft top is much nicer as it is much easier to use and I now has the Sunrider feature. Ignition is now Tip Start. The visors are now wider and include mirrors. There is some type of hill descent feature that I can feel working during normal driving. Oh, and in reference to my previous post in this thread, I got 6.0% financing.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I think i may just buy out the jeep I have now, Unless the 2011 new interior of the 2011 really wows me.

The only 2 reasons I would consider at 2010 now are the faster/easier sunrider top and the strong desire to have something "new"

I just changed from an '07 Sahara to '10 Rubicon. Things I noticed immediately are:
1) Updated header seal - I never had a leak in my '07 unless I didn't put the top on right anyways, but good to see they have updated it
2) Interior Mesh pocket and tray for centre storage cubby - such a minor thing, but soooo happy about this
3) Inner fender/brake line design is different - my '07 rubbed and would have needed to go for the upcoming recall; there was visible damage to the brake line
4) The rear window looks different with more viewable area - looks like they might have moved the rear wiper higher up on the window?
5) Front centre clip included on new freedom tops - again, no issues with my '07 but many people had leaks in the centre and this might help
6) Freedom top sound bar screws look different - not sure if this is the case, but I cracked my '07 by overtightening so I hope these are more forgiving
7) Spacers included for rear of Freedom tops for installation without the hard top. I don't think my '07 had these
8) New soft top is changed but I haven't tried it out yet - looks way easier than struggling with the tabs above the front doors

The dealer said that uconnect will show on the stereos, but it costs extra to actually install the uconnect module so I don't know if there is any change there.

Your '07 has little feet that fold down. Don't fold those down and you risk poking those soundbar screws through the top of the panels.
