Default Difficulty with Bestop Trail Cover

Putting it on for the first time I ran into a few issues. Is it possible I received a cover for a previous generation Wrangler?

The installation instructions refer to adjustable straps for the tailgate, and as you can see my tailgate straps are just, well, straps (no clips as Bestops video and instructions mention). It also fits extremely tight, and doesnt cover the doors the way the stock photos and video show, and doesnt cover the windshield either. I ripped the fabric where its sewn to one of the side adjustable straps trying to get it hooked onto the frame, even with the straps extended all the way it is a major stretch. Is it me? Thanks.

I have one for a jk and tj.

Looks like it is cut for a tj to me.

Only other thought is I believe some covers only function right with the doors off.

I have one for my JKU and it did come with clips on the end of the straps for the rear. Mine was also very tight fitting, but it has since stretched a little to where it fits perfectly with or without the half-doors on. See if you can find a tag on the top and give the vendor/manufacturer a call to confirm its the correct one.

Mine fits well. I bought it from a forum member about one year ago. I've never used it with the doors on. It does cover the entire door opening though.

That definitely looks like the wrong size to me.

The size difference in a TJ and JK is too great for it to be a TJ cover. It wouldn't even go on if that were the case. Call bestop about the rear straps, maybe they changed the design. I never use mine since the cover fits so snug around the rails. When new, it is very tight even with the doors off. It relaxes a lot the first few days of use. Try it without doors for awhile until it stretches.

No. Something wrong with that cover. Contact vendor or Bestop.

Do these covers work if you have your soft top down? Or does it have to be completely off and unscrew the torx bolts.

Mine has straps on the back just like to ones on the side in your pic. My bother in laws TJ has the elastic straps that go around the tail lights as you show on the rear...

I put mine on with the softtop folded down all the time. Main reason I bought the thing!
