Is it necessary? NO. But it might be useful to purchas the simple version to recal the speedo. The cost of a spending ticket would pay for it.

Yeh, you don't need one, but I'd get one just to be safe.

I think that it's a great investment, but no it's not required. It will change shift points as well. So it's not just for recalibrating speedo. I noticed a big difference after I got one.

Yeah I notice I get stuck in between gears a lot. Any difference in mpg?

Your MPG is not changed. It just looks like it. If your speedo is off it will mess up your odometer which is used to calculate MPG. So recalibrating just changes the numbers in the equation not the physical amount of gas used in a true mile.

I dont believe that to be true. If the procal changes shift points it will affect gas mileage. But I could be wrong.

It worked for me I have 37's with 538's and was getting 10.5 to 12.0 at the most but put pro cal on and went from that sucky gas mileage to 13.5 ish to 15.00 it changes the shift points there for when your driving ,,your transmission is not confused out of its mind and shifting down gears every hill you come too and sucking gas with more rps , with pro-cal installed the transmission knows what's going on witch means no down shifting and running the rps sky hi , which means you save gas mileage

I have noticed a difference with min. Even with 33's it made a difference with the shift points. You can also set your tire air pressure which is nice.
