Default Do I really need a 4-door and other important questions?

I'm still hesitant to buy one of these due to all the electrical issues I'm reading about. This will be my daily driver and I'm scared to death of getting stranded somewhere. I drive into downtown Baltimore everyday, so the security issue of a soft-top would also be a problem.

I had been working under the assumption that I would get a 4-door, but with the limited availability and long wait times, I've started wondering if a 2-door might be more my speed. For the past 4 1/2 years I've driven a KJ and can only think of 2-3 times over that period where I ever had someone sitting in the back seat. The majority of the time I'm either by myself or with one other person. I occasionally have to haul stuff: bags of mulch, trips to the dump, etc and I think I'd be ok with a 2-dr if I folded up the rear seat.

So for you 2-dr drivers, have you ever found yourself needing the extra cargo space the 4 -dr provides? I'm also considering the new '08 Liberty as well. Do you think that would be a better option considering it would have to be a daily driver? I'm also trying to think about what gas prices may be 5 years from now and the extra 4-5 mpg the Liberty provides is a bit attractive. I just love the looks of the Wrangler so much more.

You'll need the 4dr for all the chicks you'll be hauling around after you get the jeep. Or get the Liberty and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Hard to argue with that.

Just me and my girlfriend. My back seat sits in my apt and doubles as extra seating on game days. Get the two door.

i have found if you decide to ride with 4 people on an overnight trip the cargo room would help but other than that i have done fine with my 2 dr. Backseat fold up is easy and removal is easy also so you gain room if its just you and one other

Are you planning to run offroad? If not, get the Liberty as it is much more civilized. If you will offroad, how much gear do you think you will need to take with you? The 2-door won't hold near as much if you are thinking of going offroad to camp.

Sounds to me like a 4 door is over kill. 2 Door does make it tough for friends to get in the back, but once in, they've got loads of room.

Even with the seats in, there's a good amount of storage room, both folded up, and with it down.

If You're worried about electrical problems, don't check too many option boxes.

For trash you'll be fine. I don't know how many times a year a guy would want to transport mulch (unless you're talking about grass clippings/yard waste?) but you'll fit a bunch into it.

I dunno 'bout these other guys, but to me, what you're describing you want in a vehicle is what a Toyota tacoma has... Not that I'd ever trade my JK in for a Yota Terd.

I'm rarely ever off-road and even when I would be it likely wouldn't be anything a stock Liberty couldn't handle. Heck, I've even considered a Patriot but they sit too low for me.

Knock on wood, I have never had a problem downtown. I have been a daily commuter since 1988. Leave nothing in view.

We have the 2-door (TJ and JK) and like it well enough. And we do have kids. Family food shopping is the only real pain in the neck with the 2-door. We definitely don't overshop.
