Do you need to remove the bumper to install hitch receiver?
I'm going to buy a hitch receiver today. Will I need to remove the bumper to install it? I searched the topic already and only found one comment where someone got by with installing one without having to remove the bumper by scraping something down; I didn't really understand it. And of course any advice on which models to avoid would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

simple answer:
Nope. no need to pull the bumper.
the hitch mounts to the frame crossmember, nothing to do with the bumper, and i didnt have any clearance issues putting the receiver on mine
A few people have reported some trouble getting one of the four bolts started, i think there was a weld or something on some that got in the way?

one of the guys I work with has an aftermarket, i cant think of the name he told me, if it was matte instead of glossy paint, i wouldnt be able to tell the difference from what i could see of it. I know he bought it from 4wd.com though.
Okay thanks.
Just an FYI for those looking for hitch mounted bike racks. Last night I found a Schwinn 4 bike hitch mount rack at Target for $100; a total steal. I inspected it before I bought it and it's a good, strong product. A total bargain.

4wd.com has them on sale right now shipped:
Smittybuilt: $57.98
Rugged Ridge $77.78
i dont know if that is good or bad, but seems decent. I'd call a few places to check though, i always do. I dont see anything on Northridge's site, but call them.
